Exercise Tip
I Don’t Have Time To Workout
Let’s face it, when we first started working out, we were all a bit intimidated. We didn’t know what to do or how to do it, right?
Have you ever purchased a membership to a gym and only used it a few times? What about that piece of workout
equipment that is in the corner of the room collecting dust? How about that exercise bike that you use to hang your clothes on? If you chuckled at any one of those and raised your hands saying, “Yup, I did that.” Then you’re not alone.
Anyone that is consistent at a gym will tell you that in January the gym gets crowded. One reason is because all the people that got a gym membership for Christmas were gun-ho about going! Then, closer to February, the once big crowd starts to dwindle back down. Why? Because the novelty of going to the gym for some had worn off. Or, they just didn’t have the time to go anymore. Basically, life got in the way…at least that’s what they say.
What I’m here to tell you today is that life doesn’t have to get into the way of your workout routine…if you choose it not to. Yes, anyone who’s gone to a gym knows that getting there is half the battle. “I can work out if I can get to the gym.” Have you ever said that to yourself? Well, I got the solution for you. Just don’t go to the gym!
“But Andrew, how am I going to work out?” Who said you have to go to the gym to work out? There’s no magic pill you take at the gym is there? There’s no secret that you can only find in a gym, is there? Of course not.
Now, I’ll be honest and say that working out with a partner is much more fun than working out by yourself, but it’s totally not necessary. I’ll give you a tip that if you really think about it, it’ll totally make sense to you. Let’s say that it takes you 15 minutes to drive to your local gym. That means it should take you 15 minutes to get back, right? Why not do some sort of exercise activity at your house for 30 minutes? Maybe go walking. Or buy some cheap weights at a garage sale and put together a 30 minute strength training routine? (you can find dozens on line if you look) Or go biking for about 30 minutes?
The point is to commit to doing something. Once you make that commitment, it doesn’t matter whether you go to a gym or not, you’ll be doing something! You don’t know how to commit? Then I suggest you go walking about 30 minutes a day and think about what you’ll need to commit and when you’ll start it. (if you need to reread that last sentence and understand it, do it now)
